The Rules

(aka the boring but important stuff)
For Everyone...
  • Obey the instructions of the game officials at all times.
  • Do not take play into out-of-bounds areas. This includes not entering tents which are excluded from the game arena.
  • Don't climb any trees, ladders, walls or anything else at the site.
  • Don't over-do the outfit. No balaclavas, full-body armour or other outfit that might give some old person a heart attack as they make their way home from the ballet. We have notified SAPol of the event but you still don't want to be taken for a real-life threat.
  • No one likes a cheater. If you lose a life be a good sport. Don't hide your wristbands.
  • If "killed" in game you MUST take your wristband to the player that got you. No dangling it out of reach and using it to lure them out so a friend can avenge you.
  • A zombie kills by touching a rival player anywhere on their body or gun. A human kills by shooting a rival player anywhere on their body with a foam dart fired from a Nerf gun.
  • While "dead" a player CAN NOT participate in game play in any way. This includes picking up mission items or colluding with other players. You can use the opportunity to reload, visit the bathroom or get a drink.
  • Game officials will be throughout the arena. If they step in to adjudicate their word is final. Arguing with them may get you removed from the event.
  • This is an over 18s event. You may be asked to provide ID at time of entry to verify your age.
  • Gluttony is a licenced venue and alcohol will be available to purchase prior to the start of the event. However, remember that you are about to spend several hours running around a park... at night... chasing people. If we suspect that you are intoxicated to the point where you may be a danger to yourself or other players you may be removed from the event.
  • On arrival you will be asked to sign a waiver. No signature, no play and no refund. A copy of the waiver can be found here to be read in advance.
  • No shooting at normals. If a non-player finds themselves in the ZZ arena please don't shoot them, just direct them to the exit or a game official.
  • Remember to check in with your Team Leaders regularly. They will have updates as the game progresses which may affect the rules at any time.
  • No alcohol is to be consumed within the arena's play area.
For Zombies...
  • Being a zombie is no reason to be a perv... keep the touching to safe places on the body. No humans should have to show ZZ staff where the Zombie touched them on the dolly. And try to keep it below the neck too.
  • No punching or slapping. All you need for a kill is a touch, no need to get the boxing gloves on.
For Humans...
  • You need to bring your own Nerf gun or similar style of foam-dart shooting toy. More rules on equipment can be found below.
  • If you don't have a nerf gun you will be able to rent one on site for an additional $20 which includes darts. You will require ID if hiring.
  • You can bring as many Nerf guns as you wish but anything you bring you will need to carry at all times. No lockers will be provided at the site so plan your weapons accordingly.
  • You need to provide your own foam darts. Some of these will get lost as the event progresses so bringing extra is recommended. More info on darts included below.
  • Don't intentionally aim at faces, especially if the rival player is close to you.
And as for the guns...
  • Nerf guns and similar toy guns must be factory standard. Guns with internal modifications will not be allowed into the arena. If we suspect a gun of being modified we will test it and may at our discretion choose to ban it from being used.
  • All projectiles fired MUST be darts with a foam shaft and soft rubber tip. Bullets/dart/projectiles made from any other substance are not permitted and bringing them to the arena may have you removed at our discretion.
